The United Players are an Amateur Drama group based at St.Williams Church in Walderslade, Kent. Our membership is drawn from whoever wants to join, but primarily from Walderslade, Lordswood, Princes Park, Weedswood and the surrounding Medway Towns.

We’ve been performing shows in Walderslade since as far back as 1982 (see our history here) and are still thriving.

Our biggest performance by far is our annual pantomime at the end of January. This plays over two weekends, plays to more than 1,000 people and is what we’re best known for.

We also produce plays and events throughout the year. In the past we have entered these for the Kent Drama Festival and the Duncan Rand One-Act Play awards. Most of all though, we do it for the love of it.

Over the past few years we have experimented with a youth section and this has become more and more successful over this period. The younger members have produced a number of performances which have done creditably well in the Duncan Rand Awards, including Best Director for Cameron Wilson in 2007.

We currently operate on a production-basis, in that we meet regularly but only those cast or crew for upcoming productions are expected to attend. Auditions calls are circulated prior to any play or show being cast and are also included on this website.

We also hope to have more structured activities from Spring 2009, where members can develop their skills without the pressure of a looming performance. This will, of course, depend on the capacity of members and parents to contribute their time and expertise to the work of United Players.
